Questions About COVID-19, the Delta Variant and Shot Number 3?

COVID-19 isn’t waning, it’s picking up steam.

Only 48 % of Georgians have received at least one vaccination shot. Statewide, 1,287,677 cases have been confirmed. In Atlanta, hospital officials say climbing numbers of COVID-19 cases are stressing their emergency rooms to the brink and they are quickly running out of ICU beds for the sickest of the sick. Just last week, President Joe Biden went on national television to implore unvaccinated Americans to get their shots.

The new Delta variant of COVID-19 and the recent recommendation from the CDC that individuals with moderate to severe immunosuppression receive a third shot, or booster, reminds us all how quickly things can change on the virus front. Scientists are continuing to closely track all of the COVID-19 vaccines, watching for any drop-off in effectiveness.

At Kadan Homecare, we always look to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for guidance about the best way to protect our valued clients from the COVID-19 virus. We continue to believe that getting and keeping current on your vaccination is the best way to do that.

Our caregivers wear personal protective equipment (PPE), which includes gloves, a mask and a face shield, each time we visit a client. We are also continuing to socially distance as much as possible. We’ve recently updated our online FAQ to provide answers to questions such as:

  • How is Kadan managing the risk associated with the Delta variant?
  • What is the protocol if a caregiver/client exhibits symptoms of COVID-19?
  • What additional steps are being taken to reduce the COVID-19 risk to immunosuppressed clients?
